Have Them Serviced
When you purchase a car, in order to ensure that it works and runs efficiently, and works and runs as it should, you get it serviced annually, as this not only helps it to retain its value, it also helps keep it in fantastic working condition – thus reducing the likelihood of something serious going wrong, and you having to spend an absolute fortune putting things right. Well, with electric gates, things are no different, as the gates are highly complex and sophisticated, and in order to make sure they continue to function as they should, you should arrange to have them serviced annually. Your installers will almost certainly offer this service, so speak to them and see which options they have to offer.
Don’t Use Harsh Chemicals on Them
If your regular wooden swing gate finds itself sticking and suffering with rusty hinges, chances are that, providing you don’t get fed up and replace the whole thing, you simply spray a lubricating oil such as WD40 onto the hinges, in an attempt to rectify the situation. Whilst using chemicals on devices that contain no electronics, as far as electric gates maintenance is concerned, if you notice any rubbing sounds, any sticking, or anything else out of the ordinary for that matter, do not try to solve the problem yourself, as using chemicals could potentially damage the electronic components, which would then cost you a lot of money to put right. Be Careful of Garden Pests
If there is one thing that is almost guaranteed, it’s that, within a few days, various garden pests and insects will decide to show an interest in your gates, and you will find more than one spider’s web on them before too long. This may not seem like a problem, but just remember that, although the spider’s web may be on the outside, the spider will probably have found a way inside your gate, in amongst the electronics perhaps. If it is raining, or even if it is coated in morning Dew, the web could potentially conduct electricity as a result of the moisture, and could subsequently damage the circuit board of your gates. Even slime trails left by snails and slugs could become conductive. If you see any obvious signs of pest damage, be vigilant, and look for ways of deterring them the next time.
