For a touch of luxury, along with heaps of security and functionality, gate automation systems are incredibly popular, for a wide range of different reasons. Automated gates not only look fantastic, but they also help to provide additional security, they help keep people out that you want keeping out, and they help keep people and animals in, that you want keeping in. Gate automation systems are indeed proving to be extremely popular all across the country, but as these devices are so sophisticated and high-tech, in order to keep them at their absolute best, you will need to perform some simple maintenance on them now and again.

Whilst this may sound annoying to some of you, the maintenance is far easier than, say, painting and treating a wooden gate or fence, or replacing panels which may have become damaged in extreme weather. As far as gate automation systems go, here’s a look at a few handy maintenance tips to help ensure that your automated gates look and function exactly as they should.

Gate Automation Systems : Inspect Them Regularly
Obviously by this, we don’t mean that you need to inspect your gates once a day, or even once a week for that matter, but in order to ensure that your automated gates remain in their best possible state, you should make sure that you perform a visual inspection upon them once every few weeks. You don’t have to go over them with a microscope, but every few weeks when you’re free and have no plans, take the time to go over your gates and inspect them for any signs of damage. You should check the gate itself, the drive belt, the joints, and the paintwork and bolts etc. if you see any cracks, any signs of rust, or any loose bolts, do all you can to solve the problem yourself, or failing that, bring in the gate automation systems experts. Never leave the problem and hope it will go away, because obviously, it never will on its own.

Protect Against Rust
gate automation systemsIf there’s one thing you can guarantee in the UK, it’s the fact that it is going to rain, and it will generally rain pretty frequently every single year, no matter which season we may be in. Metal and water don’t go together all that well, and so consequently, as the gates are exposed to more and more rain, as time goes by, they will begin to rust.

You however, can prevent and deal with rust before it causes any real issues. Again, inspect all parts of your gates and look for signs of rust. If you find some, it can often be washed away in the early stages, with warm water and soapy water, just make sure that you dry them afterwards. If the rust is more extreme, wire wool or sandpaper may be required, and the metal may then need touching up with special paint.

Wash Them
This is not only important for maintenance purposes, it is also important for aesthetic purposes as well. Overtime, your gates may become dirty, dusty, and grimy, and could be coated in all sorts of nastiness, including bird droppings. Every few months, take the time to wash your gates to help keep them looking new and in great condition. Simply wash and wax your gate, and make sure to keep water away from any gate automation systems mechanical parts, as that could affect the opening and closing mechanisms.
