Automated Gate Compliance – The Technical Stuff!

Have you ever heard of DHF? No…. we have!

DHF is the only unified trade body representing the interests of locks & building hardware, metal doors, timber doors, industrial doors, roller shutters, garage doors and automated gate sectors.

DHF’s main aim is to raise standards in the industries it represents and, by doing so, reassure customers that they are using products and services of the highest quality that conform with the latest legislation, safety, and technical specifications.

Elex is a DHF approved contractor and all of our automation engineers have attended a safety course and received a diploma which means all staff are fully aware of current automation legislation, we are fully committed to following DHF’s regulation requirements.

The laws affecting supply and maintenance of automated gates and roller shutters are quite stringent and we must ensure that any installations we carry out or sites that we maintain are safe.

We are bound by a Code of Practice and the DHF Quality Assured Standards and as such any installation that we inspect will be fully checked for compliance and we will provide you a full report if any works are required to bring your installation to a fully compliant level.

The attached links on the HSE and DHF websites provides some good information regarding your responsibilities as an automated gate owner:

As a starting point, we would recommend that you call us to book in a full service on your gate/automated product (see our Service Page for further information) and whilst we are onsite our engineer can carry out a full risk assessment of your installation, services should be carried out annually on a domestic property and 6 monthly on a commercial property.

If your installation is diagnosed as non-compliant, we will recommend that it is isolated and not used until all compliance works are completed and signed off by our DHF approved engineers.
